Common Themes/Motifs/Ideas In My Writing
On my LJ flist I spotted a meme that was going around, about what are the themes and motifs that show up in your writing. Since I was just discussing that with Rebekah the other day1 it seemed like a perfect meme to do.
So, in no particular order, some of the things that recurr in my writing:
- Truth, and the realisation of it
- The importance of family
- Mirrors/reflections
- Dual identities/masks
- Mythology/fairy tales
- Self-reliance/independence
- Coming of age
- Love and the yearning for it in a practical world2
There is probably a lot more that I can think of, but those would be the main ones. What are some of yours?
