So, sometime in March I went to a few things for Writers and Readers week, which was a part of the New Zealand International Arts Festival. As well as the solo Neil Gaiman talk (which heaps of people attended), I went to Once Upon A Time, which was a talk about children’s/YA lit with Neil Gaiman and Margo Lanagan.

Fastfoward to today, and me checking my feed reader. In the latest links and plugs post by Bibliophile Stalker, I saw that there was a podcast recording of that talk put up by Radio New Zealand.

I was quite chuffed by that, and immediately went off to check out the rest of the podcast. As well as the Gaiman/Lanagan talk, there was also one about writing for YA, which I downloaded but have yet to listen to.

I love finding (and sharing) random things like this.

Podcasts

I’m starting to get into podcasts¹. Why? I don’t really know. I just decided to throw myself into them to try things out and see if it’s a case of “not interested until I actually give it a go” – which has turned out to be the case.

I do have a bit of a problem finding ones though – I look through the literature section, for example, and I find myself bombarded with 12+ Twilight podcasts (no thanks). I have found a few interesting ones, but there are a lot of podcasts out there and I haven’t been looking long enough to get through all of them.

As you can see, so far my interests are books/writing, and one mythology thing. So tell me: what podcasts do you listen to, if you do? And got any recommendations while you’re at it?

Partially because now that I have TinyComp I now have a computer that can run iTunes, which makes the whole thing a lot easier

An Awful Lot of Running

I’ve been listening to Chameleon Circuit for the past few days and I thought I’d share. In the tradition of Wizard Rock (Harry Potter), they do Trock (Time Lord Rock), which is Doctor Who. And they’re good! Very catchy.

(Oh, and I hit 50 000 words for Lionheart. Woo.)

We Interrupt This Lack Of Posting

In other news, I’m wading my way through some awkward scenes for Lionheart – they’re awkward because my brain wants to get to the awesome scenes but I know I have to do these scenes for context, world-building and to start peeling away at the backstory of a main character. Also, everyone needs a wash. Gross. So we’re going to be taking advantage of that.

Plus I am having fun having unintentional (but appropriate) subtext pointed out to me by my betas.

Anyway, I’m at 39 000 words, so expect a “Yippee! Halfway there!” post very soon. In the meantime, some early form of celebration in the form of a new layout. The tag line is going to be my new motto to keep me motivated and positive.

As per usual, if there is something borked in the layout and I haven’t noticed, drop me a line so I can fix it right away.
